Every project is different, but there are a few questions we’re asked time and again. We’ve answered some of the most common ones below to help you understand how we work and what to expect along the way.
HOW INVOLVED WILL I NEED TO BE IN THE PROJECT?
As involved as you would like to be. I can manage the process from start to finish, or work closely with you on key decisions.
WHAT TYPE OF APPLIANCES DO I NEED TO CHOOSE?
You will need to choose all the appliances for your kitchen, laundry and any media needs. We will supply you with suggested suppliers and a checklist to help you decide.
CAN I USE MY EXISTING FURNITURE?
Yes. Existing pieces can be incorporated where appropriate. I will guide you on how they fit within the overall design.
CAN I USE MY OWN CONTRACTORS?
For smaller renovations, we are happy to work with your preferred contractors. We can also suggest and coordinate building partners, such as tilers, electricians, plumbers, etc. For large projects, we work with your builders’ preferred contractors and within their project.
WHEN SHOULD I ENGAGE A DESIGNER?
As early as possible. Early involvement ensures layouts, functionality and design decisions areconsidered before construction begins — avoiding costly changes later. This is especially true if you love spending time in your kitchen & wish to incorporate special appliances.
WHY IS TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED?
It ensures your builder and trades have clear, accurate information — improving efficiency, reducing errors, and helping your project stay on time and on budget.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHANGE MY MIND DURING THE DESIGN PROCESS?
Design is a collaborative process, and we work closely with you throughout the journey to ensure we understand and present options you love - reducing the chance of changes. Because every decision impacts the next, changes after key decisions are approved may impact time and cost.
